Recreational opportunities are enhanced by two privately owned and operated amenities located at Dred Scott Playfields. These two amenities are located in a City park but do have a lease agreement with the City for the space.
The City has installed four Dred and Harriet Scott Interpretive signs, donated by the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, at the park.

On Monday, September 13, 2021, a complete removal and reconstruction project will begin on the tennis courts located in the southeast section of the park. Initial work will include removal of the existing fence and demolition of the playing surface.
Improvements will include:
Complete removal of all six courts.
Reconstruction in the same location and layout.
New net systems
Fall 2021: Demolition and removal, new playing surface paving, new fence installation.
Spring 2022: Surface coloring, line painting.
