Tretbaugh Bike Skills Park is officially open! 

Inspired by community input as part of the 2021 Park System Master Plan and further refined with community guidance, Tretbaugh Park has been transformed into Bloomington's first fully dedicated bike skills park. 

The new facility features: 

  • Paved, all-wheel track with tot, beginner, intermediate and expert options.
  • Gravel mountain bike course.
  • New pavilion.
  • Improved and more sustainable natural areas with 50+ newly planted trees and 2.5 acres of native prairie landscape.
  • Several bike skills features constructed of reclaimed cedar from trees removed as part of a Bloomington prairie restoration project.
  • Paved, off-street parking.
  • Enhanced accessibility including a new safety crosswalk on W. 90th St. 

WELCOME! 

Tretbaugh Bike Skills Park is designed to help you progress in your riding! Use the following key to help you understand your skill level and where to ride:

  • Green - Beginner: Beginner level with a few small features. Suitable for anyone who can ride a bike.
  • Blue - Intermediate: Intermediate level with some small features to improve balance and speed control. Suitable for riders ready for the next challenge and a little more speed. Features can be avoided.
  • Black - Advanced: Advanced level with steep berms and banked turns. Suitable for experienced riders comfortable with high speeds, steep turns, and quick reflexes. Features and berms are unavoidable.

What is a pump track? 

A pump track is a loop with berms and rollers to move the bike without the rider pedaling. Active pumping up and down helps gain speed. It can be used with bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters.

PARK RULES

  • NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES ALLOWED AT ANY TIME.
    • Self-propelled gas or electric equipment and vehicles including e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards, e-motos, and RC vehicles are prohibited.
  • Stay on designated trails; DO NOT modify the trail or trail features.
  • No dogs allowed.
  • DO NOT use trail during wet conditions.
  • Trail is one way (clockwise).
  • Follow all directional arrows.
  • Announce when approaching other riders.
  • Wear a helmet and proper safety equipment.
  • Keep your bike under control at all times.
  • Take turns and keep a safe distance between riders.
  • Look before your ride. DO NOT ride outside your skill level.
  • Be courteous. Support each other and share the trail with other riders.
RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK
  • Trails are unsupervised.
  • You are responsible for your own safety.
  • You assume all risk and liability when using the trails. 
HOURS
  • Open one hour after sunrise.
  • Closed one hour before sunset.
