How to prepare recycling

Place recyclables loose in cart
  • Recycling is collected every other week.
  • Do not bag your recycling – Place recycling loose in your blue recycling cart. If you collect recycling in plastic or paper bags in your home, please empty the bags into the cart. This helps with sorting.  Loose paper bags can go in your recycling cart. Plastic bags should go in the garbage or be brought to a plastic bag drop-off location.
  • Give items a quick rinse before recycling.  They do not need to be perfectly clean.
  • Keep caps on plastic bottles and jugs.
  • Keep cans, cartons and bottles in their original 3D shape.
  • Flatten boxes.

Extra recycling

Place extra recycling in a paper bag and set next to your recycling cart.  Make sure extra bags and boxes don’t weigh more than 40 pounds. If you consistently have extra recycling, you can request a larger or additional cart by contacting City Utility Billing.  There is no cost for an additional recycling cart.
