Come learn with a naturalist about how nature slows down during the winter! Get answers to questions such as:

  • How do our critter friends get through a Minnesota winter?
  • What is the difference between dormancy and hibernation?
  • How do plants make it to the next spring?

We’ll begin with a naturalist talk at Parker’s Picnic Grounds, followed by a hike to look for signs of winter preparation.

Trail Information

  • Hike departs Parker’s Picnic Grounds and heads down the Bluff Trail.
  • Trail conditions vary. Expect to walk 1 – 2 miles.
  • The hike will start by going down a moderately steep hill and end going back up the same hill.
  • The degree of difficulty for the hike is relatively low, but participants should be prepared to navigate this entry/exit slope.

Free program. No registration required.

Kristin Anderson is back with another illustrated presentation, this time exploring the landscapes and architecture of beer from the mid-19th century to the present.

Discover how St. Paul and Minneapolis were once dotted with breweries, biergartens, brewers' mansions, and saloons, all connected to the early brewing industry. See how that has evolved into a renaissance of local beer spaces in recent years.
