On Thursday, February 19, at 8:30 a.m., the Cities for Safe and Stable Communities Coalition, now representing 20 Minnesota cities including Bloomington, will hold a press conference to announce their focus on recovery and stabilizing cities this legislative session in the wake of Operation Metro Surge. As part of stabilization efforts, the coalition will announce their legislative ask of municipal aid to recoup overtime costs and address economic instability as a result of the surge.

Mayors from Hopkins, Brooklyn Center, Golden Valley, Brooklyn Park and Eden Prairie will join other local leaders to speak on how cities are managing the impacts of Operation Metro Surge. The coalition is focused on stabilizing local economies, strengthening public trust in local government, and reaffirming local control in the face of federal overreach.

Craig David has been selected to create a new, site-specific sculpture for the reimagined Bryant Park, 1001 W. 85th St.

Craig's concept design is titled Canto Mysterium – Song of Mystery. It draws on ancient stone-carving traditions and features large Minnesota stones. The piece is designed to invite visitors to pause, gather and connect with the natural landscape. It includes an equinox alignment that connects the piece to our seasons and place. Learn more about the project

We invite the community to an open house to provide input on the final design. Meet the artist and provide nature-themed ideas that you would like to see carved as imagery into the stones. Examples could include flora, fauna, plants, and animals such as birds and turtles.

Update (3/16/26): The open house will still take place tonight as scheduled.
If you are unable to attend, you can submit ideas through the online form here:
