Cemetery Information
The Bloomington Cemetery was established in 1856 by Oak Grove Presbyterian Church. In June of 1864 the Town of Bloomington acquired the Cemetery.
The City Clerk's Office maintains the records of the Cemetery, which date back to the 1800s. They sell lots and assist mortuaries with burial arrangements.
Please schedule an appointment to speak with a staff member about the cemetery or email with any questions.
If you are in need of scheduling an urgent appointment, please contact 952-563-4925.
A portion of the Bloomington Cemetery is in the National Registrar of Historic Places.

Prior to interment, we need the original cremation or deposition certificate as well as the dimensions of the urn if it is a cremation. We require the burial certificate (permit) for a full casket.
We require at least 48 hours notice to schedule an interment. Please note that we are closed weekends and holidays.
There is an additional charge for interments on weekends and holidays.
Caskets must be enclosed in either a concrete burial vault or grave liner interred by a vault company.
Urn vaults are optional and will need to be interred by a vault company.

The questionnaire needs to be reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office and can take one to two weeks.
