The Bloomington Police Santa Cop program began in 2020 to help Bloomington families who were unable to provide holiday gifts for their children. Bloomington residents were so generous that the BPD found it was not able to handle the volume of gifts received. As a result, BPD is shifting the Santa Cop program this year to an adopt-a-family program. With this new approach, the BPD staff will provide all items to five to eight families.
“By adopting individual families, we can see specific wish lists and make the holidays really special,” said Crime Prevention Specialist Katie Zerull.
