What is the Santa Cop Program?

The Bloomington Police Santa Cop Program is an annual event that began in 2020. During that time, it was determined that several families in our community were unable to provide Christmas gifts for their children. The mission and purpose of the Santa Cop Program was started to provide assistance during the holiday season to disadvantaged children and families in the Bloomington community. The program grew so quickly that in 2023 the department had to shift the program to what it is now. The BPD does an adopt a family program providing gifts to 5-8 families with all items purchased and wrapped by employees of the department.

How are families selected for the Santa Cop program?

Bloomington Police Department employees and embedded Hennepin County Social Workers nominate families in need. Should you know of special circumstance of a Bloomington family in need, please contact the police department, SantaCop@Bloomingtonmn.gov to share your nomination request.

You have a gift you would like to donate to the community. How do you do that?
