Pavement Management Program (PMP) Trails

Sections

Serving as an extension of our Pavement Management Program (PMP) the PMP Trails program will address the design, construction, and maintenance of the City’s existing bituminous trails. The City of Bloomington’s responsibility to maintain twenty-five miles of street trails and thirteen miles of park trails requires evaluation of the existing trail conditions prior to rehabilitation.  Following evaluation, trail segments selected for rehabilitation are designed to meet today’s standards including minimum trail widths and proper geometry.  The construction techniques used would include crack sealing, fog sealing, overlay or complete reconstruction.  Keeping with the values of the City of Bloomington PMP, subsequent construction and maintenance will strive to expend taxpayer funds in a cost effective manner in order to ensure the most value for residents.  As perspectives shift from viewing trails as amenities to being considered assets to multi-modal transportation and healthier living, it is becoming increasingly necessary to plan, build, and maintain these assets.

2020 PMP Trails Project

The 2020-110 PMP Trails Improvement Project includes the reconstruction of two existing trails in Bloomington. These trails will include:
