Intent of Policy
The intent of this policy is to set forth the conditions and purpose for which the City of Bloomington provides PRO’s Ice for figure skaters, skating lessons and skating instructors which utilize designated PRO’s ice at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
Procedure
Ice Garden Management will schedule PRO’s Ice during times in which the ice is not rented. Pro’s ice is not guaranteed and can be sold at any time.
PRO’s Ice Priority and Designations
Pro’s Ice will be limited to no more than 25 skaters at any one time on the ice. If crowding is an issue, management will prioritize in the following way:
Those who have purchased a monthly PRO’s ice pass
Those enrolled in Bloomington Skate School classes/lessons
Members of the Figure Skating Club of Bloomington
Those taking a private lesson
Any other skaters
Types of PRO’s Ice
PRO’s Ice – open to all based on priority outlined above
Contracted PRO’s Ice – Open only to those who have paid for a monthly PRO’s Ice pass
Adult Pro’s Ice – Open to adult only skaters
Rules
All participating skaters must sign in and pay before taking the ice. Any skater on the ice that has not paid, will be asked to leave the ice.
- All injuries, conflicts, concerns and issues must be reported to the BIG office ASAP.
While participating on Pro’s Ice, skaters and instructors, please be considerate of other groups/individuals.
- TIPS
- If you are a less experienced skater, be extra careful and stay aware of other skaters. Look ahead of where you are skating to see what others are doing or are about to do.
- If you are an experienced skater, be patient with the less experienced skaters. Remember– you were new to freestyle sessions at one time, too. Work to provide them with extra space so they do not feel rushed or crowded.
- Be understanding if someone gets in your way.
- Be courteous, show good sportsmanship, and be respectful to those on and off the ice.
Skaters cannot take the ice until the Zamboni is off the ice and the gate is shut.
- Adult supervision is recommended for all youth 17 and under.
- No organized classes should take place on Pro’s Ice.
- Pro’s ice participants skate at their own risk.
- The jumping harness on rink 3 is NOT to be used during PRO’s Ice except by FSCB home club coaches.
- Use of cell phones on the ice is not permitted. (exception – videotaping or virtual coaching)
- Use of earbuds/headphones is discouraged as it limits the ability to hear others on the ice.
- Skaters should not be standing or congregating or goofing around while on the ice.
- Hockey sticks, cones, pucks, chairs and other non-training aids are NOT allowed on Pro’s ice.
- Training aids should only be used for their intended purpose.
- Coaches/skaters must share access to the sound system. If necessary, a list should be created to make sure all get a chance to play their music. Music must be appropriate for a public facility and should not include vulgar or inappropriate language or undertones. The rink reserves the right to turn off the system.
Any one or group determined to be in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the ice without a refund. Repeated violations will result in loss of Pro’s Ice privileges.
