Dear arts patrons,
We recognize the activities surrounding federal immigration enforcement across Minnesota, including the tragic killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis, have created fear and uncertainty for many in our community. We know the impact of these incidents ripple far beyond the immediate locations where they occur. They touch our shared sense of safety, belonging and the future we envision for ourselves and our neighbors.
The City of Bloomington and Bloomington Center for the Arts maintain a commitment to providing welcoming and inclusive spaces for our residents, employees, businesses and visitors. The Bloomington Police Department, located on the same campus as the Center for the Arts, is dedicated to protecting and serving everyone in our community and working to keep all people safe. City staff, including members of our public safety teams, stay in frequent communication with one another and with partner arts organizations. We continually monitor evolving situations and coordinate as needed to support public safety and community wellbeing.
Navigating these times can be challenging. There are resources available on the City of Bloomington’s website, including information on how to recognize public safety staff uniforms and connect with legal resources, where to find wellness support and how to support the community.
Bloomington Center for the Arts exists to bring people together to create, to heal, and to find connection through shared expression. Our shows, classes and programs will continue to run as usual to provide a space to create and connect with community. As situations evolve, we will be in regular communication with our users. The safety and security of patrons, staff, artists, and volunteers remains our top priority.
Thank you for being part of our vibrant community. We look forward to enjoying and celebrating all our wonderful upcoming events with you by our side.
With Appreciation,
Ian Brekke
Manager
