The compost giveaway, funded through a Hennepin County grant, is an annual event intended to encourage participation in organics recycling that begins and ends with residents. How does it work?
- Food scraps and other compostable items are collected from participating residents through the City’s organics recycling program,
- Organics are processed into compost at SMSC Organics Recycling Facility, and
- Nutrient-rich compost is returned to participating residents.
