Baby Gear Swap

Who: Hosted by the City of Bloomington. All are welcome.

Baby items can be expensive, and little ones outgrow them fast. This swap will focus on items intended for babies, ages 0 to 24 months. All items are given and taken freely and are not for sale. Participants do not have to bring anything to take items home. Please bring only items from the accepted list below.

Accepted Items:

Must be gently used or like new items intended for babies (0-24 months)

  • Wraps and carriers: strollers, swaddles, slings (no car seats)
  • Toys: sensory and learning toys, books, bath toys, attachments for strollers and carriers
  • Engagement: activity centers, play yards, walkers, swings, bouncers
  • Miscellaneous items: high chairs, booster chairs, diaper bags, other small and gently used items

Please do not bring:

  • Car seats
  • Clothes
  • Large furniture (i.e.: cribs, pack & plays, changing tables)
  • Baby feeding items
  • Large toy and play structures that require assembly
  • Stuffed animals
  • Toys for children 2 years and up
  • Broken or recalled products

City-hosted swap events are part of the City of Bloomington's new bulky item management program. The goal of these events is to repurpose items and give them new homes, helping to divert waste from going to landfills and incinerators.

Volunteers needed: Swap events are made possible with the help of volunteers. Volunteer tasks are both easy and flexible, and volunteers are still welcome to participate in the swap. See more details and sign up to volunteer at blm.mn/swap-volunteer.

Supporting Organizations:

  • Strollers For Health is collecting any remaining items after the swap. Leftover items will be donated to clients in need throughout the Twin Cities.
  • Baby Gear Group will be at the swap to share information on their local baby gear library and variety of membership and a la carte options. They will also have applications for the Minnesota Cloth Diaper Bank. Be sure to stop by their table.
  • Early Childhood Learning Services Parent Advisory Group will have information on Early Childhood programs and classes.
