In memoriam: Lyle Berg

Longtime City Traffic and Transportation Engineer Lyle Berg, 90, of Webster, South Dakota, died September 7, 2023. Berg began working for the City of Bloomington in 1964.

In his role, Berg led the development of many major infrastructure improvements that supported growth of the partly rural village that was Bloomington to what it is now Minnesota’s fourth largest city. One of Berg’s many accomplishments was the development of American Boulevard, which culminated in a bridge over I-35W named in his honor in 2005. Berg retired twice—the first time in 2000 and the second time in 2003.
