In May, Bloomington was awarded $4 million in state bonding appropriation from the State of Minnesota to support the North Central Sanitary Sewer Project, a major win for residents and the city’s long-term growth.
This investment will expand sewer capacity in north central Bloomington and serve the rapidly growing Penn American District, where ongoing housing and mixed-use redevelopment continue to increase demand for reliable modern services.
The project includes construction of 13,330 feet of 24-inch diameter sanitary sewer pipe. Work will extend from American Boulevard and Morgan Avenue to Syndicate Avenue and West 92nd Street and will include a crossing beneath I-35W just south of the I-35W and I-494 interchange. The upgraded system will support higher density redevelopment consistent with the City’s comprehensive plan and regional goals.
