During the 2022 – 2023 academic year, various divisions within the City partnered with the University of Minnesota on multiple projects. The Resilient Communities Project’s mission is to connect local government agencies with U of M students and faculty to work collaboratively on projects that drive progress in community resilience, equity and sustainability, while simultaneously enhancing student learning, knowledge and skills.

The City was able to match three project proposals with student teams, including Development Impacts Analysis, Impacts of the Bloomington Leadership Program, and Recruitment and Retention of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) Millennial Workforce in Local Government. Students submitted the findings of their research and analysis by preparing reports and presenting to Bloomington officials and staff.
