The City of Bloomington invites experienced public artists or artist teams to submit qualifications for a major sculpture commission at the redesigned Bryant Park, 1001 W. 85th St. The project will create a distinctive, interactive artwork celebrating nature, accessibility and community connection.

Project Overview

  • Budget: Up to $150,000 (design, fabrication, installation, all costs included)
  • Eligibility: Minnesota-based artists (18+), with priority consideration for teams including a Bloomington resident
  • Qualifications: At least one completed outdoor sculpture commission of $20,000+ within the last 10 years

The selected artwork will be site-specific and inclusive, safe for all ages, inspired by local wetlands, and highlight the park’s environmental restoration. Bryant Park’s transformation includes Bloomington’s first fully accessible playground, a skate spot, shelter, and restored natural areas.

Project Timeline

  • Application deadline: September 5, 2025, 10:59 p.m. CST via CaFE™
  • Finalists notified: September 22, 2025
  • Finalists’ concept presentations: Week of October 13, 2025 ($2,000 finalist stipend)
  • Artist selected: October 20, 2025
  • Installation: Spring 2026
