David works across a range of media, including stone sculpture, large-scale environmental installations, and mosaic murals. His collaborative, place-responsive approach aligns with Bloomington’s Creative Placemaking goals by recognizing artists and culture bearers as vital contributors to the city’s creative, cultural, and economic vibrancy. Through this commission, the City is investing in professional artistic practice while creating a meaningful, lasting asset for the community.
The project also advances the goal to enhance belonging and inclusive engagement. The sculpture is envisioned as an accessible, interactive feature that encourages play, curiosity, and shared experience across ages and abilities. By inviting people to engage with the artwork in multiple ways, the project helps create a welcoming park environment where community members feel seen, included, and connected.
Finally, the Bryant Park Sculpture Project contributes to Bloomington’s goal to build creative placemaking capacity citywide. Through cross-department collaboration, artist-led engagement, and the integration of art into park planning and design, the project expands local expertise and strengthens partnerships that support future creative placemaking efforts throughout the city.
