March is National Nutrition Month, but Bloomington Public Health (BPH) supports the goals of Nutrition Month year-round by helping low-income pregnant people and new parents access nutritious food through the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition program. BPH provided services to 3,155 WIC participants in 2023.

“We love WIC,” said one client. “We get $50 for fruits and vegetables and other healthy stuff! People at the store tell me that my WIC grocery cart is the healthiest they’ve ever seen. You are doing good work.”

WIC staff provides more than food benefits. They go beyond the table to help families with nutrition education, tools to make healthy food choices and breast/chestfeeding information and counseling.

Residents can call the Public Health WIC program at 952-563-8993 to learn more or to apply. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen.
