Police Chief Booker Hodges recently promoted Damon Bitney to assistant chief of police to help guide daily operations, promote the department’s core value of respect and advance its vision.
“It is vital that we keep up with the public safety needs of our community,” said Chief Booker Hodges. “The professional leadership of Assistant Police Chief Bitney will advance this effort to the next level.”
Working alongside Hodges, Bitney oversees department operations and strategic planning, while serving as acting chief as needed.
“I am truly humbled to serve as the first assistant chief of police for the department,” Bitney said. “This role represents an opportunity to continue serving alongside the dedicated members of this department while helping shape its future.”
Since joining the Bloomington Police Department in 2000, Bitney has been promoted through the ranks and served several professional roles.
