The Bloomington Police Department is seeking new volunteers to join the Bloomington Police Reserves, an essential team that supports public safety across the city. Reserve Officers come from all backgrounds: some are exploring careers in law enforcement, while others simply want to make a meaningful difference in their community.
Reserve Officers assist sworn officers with non-criminal duties, from business and park checks to helping motorists, supporting public safety programs, directing traffic at special events and aiding in searches or emergency responses.
Applicants must be at least 20 years old, meet basic eligibility requirements and commit to about 10 hours monthly. New volunteers receive comprehensive training through an in-house academy and ongoing monthly sessions. Uniforms and equipment are provided at no cost.
