Bloomington Police Department cruised into first place in All Traffic Solutions’ annual sign contest in September. Agencies from across the country submitted videos showing how they use radar message signs to slow drivers, share alerts and collect traffic data. Winners were chosen by public vote and, thanks to strong community support, Bloomington came out on top.
BPD’s video featured Police Officer Chris Wegner sitting in a lawn chair by a squad car with coffee in hand, keeping an eye on drivers’ speeds as they go by. The humor clearly hit the mark, helping Bloomington secure a new SpeedAlert 18 radar message sign and a yearlong TraffiCloud® subscription to boost local traffic safety.
