RSVP is required to reserve your compost, and compost is only available to active organics recycling participants. Follow the link below to reserve your 1-hour time slot for compost pickup.

Reserve compost

The compost giveaway, funded through a Hennepin County grant, is an annual event intended to encourage participation in organics recycling that begins and ends with residents. How does it work?

1. Food scraps and other compostable items are collected from participating residents through the City’s organics recycling program, 
2. Organics are processed into compost at SMSC Organics Recycling Facility, and
3. Nutrient-rich compost is returned to participating residents.
