Harvesting and growing our community gardens

Since summer, Bloomington Community Gardens have overflowed with flowers, pumpkins, sweet corn, tomatoes, zucchini, herbs and beans. Due to the enthusiastic response to the Community Garden program, the City has preliminary plans to add up to 80 additional garden plots for the 2027 season, giving even more residents an opportunity to cultivate their green thumbs.

Return garden plot renters can apply starting in February; new renters can apply starting in March. Each plot costs $45 for Bloomington residents and $57 for nonresidents. When you rent a garden plot, it is yours to use from late April to early October.

The garden sites are located at Brookside Park, Harrison Park, Smith Park and South Loop. Visit blm.mn/gardens to learn more about rental applications, fee assistance, site addresses and important dates.
