Join us at the September 14 City Council Meeting to learn more and provide comment

A presentation on the proposed 2027–2028 budget will be held during the City Council meeting on Monday, September 14. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Civic Plaza, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road. Following the presentation, community members will have an opportunity to provide comments before the City Council discusses the proposed budget and sets the preliminary tax levy for 2027.

2027-2028 Budget engagement has begun

Finance staff have been at community events this spring and summer talking to residents about the 2027-2028 budget.

New this year, the City is shifting to a two-year budget cycle. This provides time for decision-makers to assess programs and services and make data-driven decisions about resource allocation. This new approach will ensure the investments being made are impactful and aligned with the community’s needs and values.

Priority-Based Budgeting

Each year the City Council approves a budget to fund City services such as Police, Fire, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation.

The City utilizes Priority-Based Budgeting—a government finance best practice to help:

Evaluate all City programs based on community needs and the value they provide.
Align resources with the Bloomington. Tomorrow. Together. strategic plan priorities.
Make data-driven strategic decisions.

Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Civic Plaza, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road.
