W Bush Lake Rd at W 83rd St/Wyoming Circle

Beginning Monday, September 14 for approximately 2 weeks

W. Bush Lake Road at W. 83rd Street will be closed to facilitate the replacement of deep storm sewer utilities as part of the 2026-101 PMP Street Improvement Project. A signed detour will be provided.

Westbound/Southbound E Old Shakopee Rd between American Blvd/34th Ave to 24th Ave/Killebrew

Beginning Tuesday, September 8 for approximately 2 weeks

Westbound/southbound E Old Shakopee Road will closure between American Boulevard and 24th Avenue for approximately 2 weeks to for a city road construction project that will complete utility, roadway, and pedestrian crossing enhancement work.

Westbound American Boulevard between Dupont Ave and Knox Ave

Beginning Monday, August 17 for approximately 2 months 

Westbound American Boulevard will close between Dupont Avenue to Knox Avenue for approximately two months to facilitate installation of new sanitary sewer.

W 102nd Street at Normandale Boulevard (CSAH 34)

Beginning Thursday, August 6 for approximately one day

W 102nd Street will close between Normandale Boulevard (CSAH 34) and Wildwood Road to facilitate a sanitary sewer repair as part of the 2026-102 PMP Street Maintenance Project. A signed detour will be provided. Wildwood Road and Hyland Greens Golf Course will be accessible via Nesbitt Avenue while the repair is made.

W 110th St (east of France), Abbott Ave S, W 108th St, Beard Ave S 

Starting Mid April and continuing to mid summer

This utility work will start with Eastbound closures on W 110th Street (east of France), moving into a full closure of Abbott Avenue between W 108th Street and W 110th Street, a full closure of W 108th Street between Beard and Abbott Avenues, and lastly a closure of Beard Avenue between W 108th Street and Old Shakopee Road.

MnDOT TH 77 Project

MnDOT is undertaking a multi-year project to repair 10 bridges on TH 77 between 494 and the Minnesota River. These bridges include ramps to and from TH 77 to 494, numerous ramps around the Mall of America, and the Minnesota River Bridge. This project is phased to minimize conflicts with the upcoming MnDOT 494 Project 2 and MnDOT has also been coordinating with representatives of the Mall of America. Motorists can expect road, lane, ramp and bridge closures during construction. Work is schedule for summer 2026 through November 2028. 

2026 Traffic Impacts:

  • Closure of ramp from northbound TH 77 to eastbound I-494:  Monday, August 17 until mid-October
  • Closures of ramp from eastbound I- 494 to southbound TH 77: Tuesday, September 8 (after Labor Day) until mid-October
  • Lane and sidewalk closures on American Boulevard beneath the TH 77 bridges: Monday, August 17 until mid-October
  • Lane closures on TH 77 for crossover work on TH 77 south of Old Shakopee Road to prepare for river bridge work beginning in 2027

W 78th Street between ONTO (4900 W 78th Street, west driveway) and W 78th Street Circle 

Begins Wednesday, May 13 

MnDOT 494 Project Work – Remaining underground storm water drainage work, road, and sidewalk work.

This is a switch in closures in this area (currently the segment of W 78th Street WEST of ONTO is closed).  The section west of the driveway will be re-opened before the section east of the driveway is closed.  A marked detour will be provided for the closure using Computer Avenue, W 77th Street (EDINA), Johnson Avenue.   


12th Avenue between American Blvd and 77th Street (Richfield)

Thursday, March 6, 2026 - Fall 2026

The MnDOT I-494 Construction project will remove the 12th Avenue bridge over I-494 and reconstruct a bridge with no ramps onto or off of I-494.  Impacts to the intersection of American Boulevard at 12th Avenue only closes the north leg of the intersection – drivers can still travel east-west and south at this intersection.  Access to the business driveway off 12th Avenue will be maintained during construction.   The access from 12th Avenue to the frontage road, 78th Street, will be permanently removed.

A marked detour will be provided via Portland Avenue.  The bike/pedestrian detour is provided via Chicago Avenue Pedestrian bridge.


Nicollet Avenue between American Boulevard and 77th Street (Richfield)

Monday, February 16 2026 - Fall 2026

The MnDOT I-494 Construction project will remove the Nicollet Avenue bridge over I-494 (demolition planned for the weekend of Feb 20-23) and reconstruct a bridge with no ramps onto or off of I-494. Impacts to the intersection of American Boulevard at Nicollet only closes the north leg of the intersection – drivers can still travel east-west and south at this intersection in this phase of work. 

Access to the business and Xcel station in the NW quad of American/Nicollet will be impacted but maintained during construction. The 78th Street/Frontage Road on the south side of I-494 will be closed from Nicollet to the first driveway east of the intersection. 

A marked detour will be provided via Portland Avenue. The bike/pedestrian detour is provided via Lyndale Avenue.
