The REDress Project Exhibit
Feb 26 – March 31
Civic Plaza
1800 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431

Three red dresses hanging from the branches of a leafless tree.

The REDress Project is a powerful art installation that brings visibility to the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. Created by Métis artist Jaime Black-Morsette, the project uses empty red dresses displayed in public spaces to represent the lives taken and those still missing.

Community members are invited to experience the exhibit and attend the March 20 launch of Bloomington’s 2026 Indigenous Film Series.

“Red is really a calling back of the spirits of these women and allowing them a chance to be among us and have their voices heard through their family members. The dresses are empty so that they evoke the missing women who should be wearing them. People notice there is a presence in the absence.”—Jaime Black-Morsette

Through this striking visual statement, the exhibit invites reflection, remembrance, and action.

The REDress Project exhibit coincides with Women’s History Month and the launch of Bloomington’s 2026 Indigenous Film Series on March 20, featuring Bring Her Home by regional Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Leya Hale. The film follows three Indigenous women seeking justice for loved ones lost to violence while confronting generational trauma and systemic injustice.

The exhibit and film series are made possible by Bloomington Public Schools’ American Indian Education Program, the Bloomington Human Rights Commission, and Bloomington Parks and Recreation. Also, a big thank you to Amanda Fineran for the exhibit’s poster designs.
