Eastbound W 98th Street at 9801 Penn Ave S

Starting Monday, May 18th for approximately 7 days

Bolander will be installing utility connections at the Community Health and Wellness Center.

A marked detour will be provided.

1800 W 96th Street

Starting Monday, May 11th for approximately 5 days, weather permitting

St Paul Utilities and Excavating will be installing new storm, water, and sanitary services on W 96th Street near 1800 W 96th Street. 

A marked detour will be provided

W 110th St EB (France Ave - Chowen Ave) & Ewing Ave, south of W 110th St

Starting Thursday, April 16 - Mid May 2026

W 110th St and Ewing Ave will be closed for 4 weeks to allow for xcel energy utility work in the southern half of the roadway. 

A marked detour will be provided.

Normandale Boulevard (Northbound Only) btwn Old Shakopee Road & W 106th Street

Starting Monday, April 20 through Saturday May 9 2026

Purpose:  Centerpoint Energy Gasline Work

A marked detour will be provided using W Old Shakopee Road, France Avenue and W 102nd Street.

W 78th Street between ONTO (4900 W 78th Street, west driveway) and W 78th Street Circle 

Begins Wednesday, May 13 for approximately a month

MnDOT 494 Project Work – Remaining underground storm water drainage work, road, and sidewalk work.

This is a switch in closures in this area (currently the segment of W 78th Street WEST of ONTO is closed).  The section west of the driveway will be re-opened before the section east of the driveway is closed.  A marked detour will be provided for the closure using Computer Avenue, W 77th Street (EDINA), Johnson Avenue.   


Ramp Closure: Penn Avenue to WB I-494

Closure begins Monday, May 4, 2026 and is expected reopen Monday, May 18 (2 weeks)

494 Project work includes joint repair and installation of noise wall posts

Detour will use 76th Street to France to WB I-494


Ramp Closure: EB I-494 to France Avenue

Closure begins Monday, May 4 and is expected to re-open Wednesday, May 20 (approx. 2 weeks)

494 Project work includes finish paving and barrier on the retaining wall

Detour will use NB TH 100 to EB TH 62 to France Avenue


Phase 1: W 82nd Street (WEST) Closed between Penn Avenue and Russell Avenue

Closure begins Thursday, May 14 and is expected to last until May 21 (1 week)

494 Project work includes intersection and signal system modifications at Penn and 82nd Street.  When work on this leg of the intersection is complete, this leg will re-open and the EAST leg will close.

Phase 2:  W 82nd Street Closed between Penn Avenue and Knox Avenue

Closure begins Thursday May 21, 2026 and is expected to last until June 4, 2026 (2 weeks)

494 Project work includes intersection and signal system modifications at Penn and 82nd Street.  

Additionally, Penn Avenue will be down to a single lane in both directions during this work through the intersection at 82nd Street. 


Nicollet South (South Leg) Closure at American Boulevard

Closure begins Friday, April 24 and is expected to last until June 2026 (approx. 2 months)

American Boulevard EASTBOUND between France Ave and Normandale Blvd

Starting Monday, April 20 2026 for approximately 2 months

One travel lane in the westbound direction will remain open to retain access to businesses and residences in the area.  

A marked detour for eastbound traffic will be posted using W 84th Street and France Avenue.


12th Avenue between American Blvd and 77th Street (Richfield)

Thursday, March 6, 2026 - Fall 2026

The MnDOT I-494 Construction project will remove the 12th Avenue bridge over I-494 and reconstruct a bridge with no ramps onto or off of I-494.  Impacts to the intersection of American Boulevard at 12th Avenue only closes the north leg of the intersection – drivers can still travel east-west and south at this intersection.  Access to the business driveway off 12th Avenue will be maintained during construction.   The access from 12th Avenue to the frontage road, 78th Street, will be permanently removed.

A marked detour will be provided via Portland Avenue.  The bike/pedestrian detour is provided via Chicago Avenue Pedestrian bridge.


Nicollet Avenue between American Boulevard and 77th Street (Richfield)

Monday, February 16 2026 - Fall 2026

The MnDOT I-494 Construction project will remove the Nicollet Avenue bridge over I-494 (demolition planned for the weekend of Feb 20-23) and reconstruct a bridge with no ramps onto or off of I-494. Impacts to the intersection of American Boulevard at Nicollet only closes the north leg of the intersection – drivers can still travel east-west and south at this intersection in this phase of work. 

Access to the business and Xcel station in the NW quad of American/Nicollet will be impacted but maintained during construction. The 78th Street/Frontage Road on the south side of I-494 will be closed from Nicollet to the first driveway east of the intersection. 

A marked detour will be provided via Portland Avenue. The bike/pedestrian detour is provided via Lyndale Avenue.
