Twin Cities Pride, the nonprofit that organizes the annual Pride Festival at Loring Park and parade each June in Minneapolis, is providing event planning support to Bloomington Pride, a group of Bloomington volunteers, as the south metro organization earns its 501(c)(3) and takes ownership of the Bloomington Pride Celebration.

“Our vision at Twin Cities Pride is a future where all LGBTQ people are valued and celebrated for who they are,” said Andi Otto, Executive Director of Twin Cities Pride. “We’ve been planning and hosting our annual Pride festival for decades. We’re sharing some of the insight we’ve gained over the years to help Bloomington Pride best serve the local LGBTQ community through this important event.”

Bloomington Pride took ownership of the celebration this year from the City of Bloomington which had previously planned the event. Organizers believe it was an important step to help ensure there was enough bandwidth to grow the festival in the years to come.

“Our strategic plan, Bloomington. Tomorrow. Together., is focused on efforts to strengthen a well-connected, diverse, and welcoming community,” said Jamie Verbrugge, Bloomington City manager.

“The new partnership allows Bloomington residents to continue to be the leading voices in local Pride event planning and allows Bloomington Pride to strengthen this important community-centered event.”

The Bloomington Pride Celebration takes place on Sunday, September 10, from noon - 5 p.m. at Bloomington Civic Plaza, 1800 West Old Shakopee Road. The event will include entertainment, food, music and a variety of vendors. More details about programming, sponsorships and vendor registration are available at BloomingtonPrideMN.org.
