Small Business Saturday, which encourages residents to support small local businesses, begins November 25 and runs throughout the holiday shopping season.

An estimated 68 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the community. 

A registered trademark of American Express, Small Business Saturday was first observed in the United States in 2010 as an alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which focus on big box stores and online shopping. Instead, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to support small, local businesses for their holiday shopping.
