With the nice weather, people are spending more time in their yards making improvements. Planning to install a fence on your property? Generally, the City Code allows a maximum four-foot-tall and 50% opaque fence in the yards adjacent to a street. Opacity refers to the degree to which something is unclear or difficult to see through. A maximum six-foot-tall privacy fence is allowed in side and rear yards not adjacent to a street. However, there are exceptions. A permit is not required for fences below seven feet tall.
