Bloomington-based figure skaters Reagan Moss, right, and Jakub Galbavy, left, recently earned a national title, marking their second junior national championship this season. Their back-to-back wins in the junior pairs category are a first in U.S. Figure Skating history.
The pair has been skating together for nearly three years and trains at the Bloomington Ice Garden, 3600 W. 98th St. Both skaters credit trust and teamwork as key to their success.
“Our personalities clicked right away,” Moss said. “We can really trust each other to do all these hard things we’re trying to do to succeed.” Galbavy added, “We always want to be there for the other person. That’s the beauty of doing pairs.”
Moss and Galbavy say the Bloomington Ice Garden has played an important role in their development.
“The facility is great. Everything we need is here,” Moss said. Galbavy noted the support they receive from staff and the community.
Following their national success, the team was selected to represent the United States at the Junior World Championships in Estonia in late February and early March. As they continue to compete, both skaters say they remain focused on steady progress, strong training and enjoying the sport. To see a video about the pair, visit blm.mn/skaters.
