At your service: Chris Myers
Four seasons filled with a variety of work add up to one fulfilling job for Equipment Operator Chris Myers. It all started in the Army when he was part of an engineering unit sent on a special mission to repair roads and bridges overseas. A knack for running heavy machinery and trucks, along with a love for the outdoors led to Myers current job at the City of Bloomington.
He’s out in the field year-round doing fall and spring sweeping, snow plowing, anti-icing, pothole patching, seal coating, other road repairing and more. Myers also helps with the Pavement Management Program (PMP)—a duty that takes him through one-third of Bloomington on foot, which amounts to 45 – 50 miles of streets annually. In PMP, Myers rates the condition of streets and scores them to identify areas that need attention.
The road to a well-maintained city runs all year long and Myers supports the efforts daily.
