Wednesday mornings have been special at the Moua household since monster-truck lovers, two-year-old Frederick and four-year-old Theodore, started watching for the weekly garbage truck.

Last spring, Theodore, who once dressed as a trash collector for Halloween, wanted to express his appreciation.

With markers and crayons, both Theodore and Frederick spent a Saturday afternoon drawing and writing. The following Wednesday, they waved down the driver to deliver their thank-you artwork. Paul Borgert, a Republic Services driver and trainer, was touched and invited his young fans to check out the truck.

Since then, Mr. Paul, as he is called by the brothers, continues to wave every Wednesday.

“It is so nice to have customers who let you know they appreciate the service,” Borgert said.

“Our trash collector not only provides great service, but he is also a stellar community member,” added Shauna Moua, Bloomington resident and parent to Theodore and Frederick.
