A Bloomington Public Works Week event

This time of the year, Public Works usually is busy getting ready to mow the parks, paint fire hydrants, start construction and host its Public Works Open House.

This year, having you to our home isn’t possible, but we thought you might like to celebrate Public Works Week with us anyway. You are invited to our party game … the Public Works Week Selfie Scavenger Hunt.

Public works vehicle drive-by on your street?!

Submit ONE public works selfie – or the entire list – to be entered into a random drawing for a Public Works Vehicle drive-by on your street!

Take a selfie while remaining socially distant at …

  • A Bloomington park.
  • A Bloomington trail.
  • One of our 300 ponds that help clean storm water.

Take a selfie with …

  • A fire hydrant.
  • Snow removal equipment (shovel, snow blower, etc.).
  • A rainwater garden. (Don’t have one? Consider creating one!)
  • Your own chalk drawing celebrating public works week.
  • Your favorite street sign.
  • Wearing orange or other reflective material.
  • A catch basin grate. (Maybe consider adopting it)
  • Showing your interpretation of this year’s public works theme, “the rhythm of public works.”
  • Your organics or compost bin.
  • A roll of toilet paper!
