Wright’s Lake Park Mural – Celebration

  • Monday, October 15, 2018 - 11:00am to 12:00pm

Join us for a free walking taco lunch (while supplies last) to celebrate the "unveiling" of the newly completed Wright's Lake Park Community Mural! Council Member Patrick Martin will provide brief remarks, and Betty Olson and Diane Horner from the Medalist Band will be playing popular music (piccolo and flute). Students from Valley View Middle School who participated in the process will also be bussed out to join the festivities.

The City of Bloomington commissioned a mural on the retaining wall that runs alongside State Highway 77/Cedar Avenue and faces Old Cedar Avenue and Wright’s Lake Park. This mural is part of the City’s neighborhood emphasis project in this area, and the City and our non-profit partner Artistry’s creative placemaking efforts. We worked with GoodSpace Murals to produce the mural, due to their artistic expertise, extensive experience, community engagement process, and bilingual staff.

Design visioning sessions, a design presentation, and painting parties took place from August 2017 - June 2018. View a map of the mural location and a final design concept sketch of the mural.
