Update on wild turkey at 90th and Penn

On November 18, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) notified the Bloomington Police Department that it had dispatched a wild turkey in the area of 90th Street and Penn Ave. The DNR, who has statewide jurisdiction over all wildlife, responded after being made aware of the turkey's aggressive behavior, as well as public safety concerns at the busy intersection.

Due to an uptick in complaints, Bloomington Police had been in discussions with the DNR on a relocation plan for the turkey earlier in the week. Public safety issues at or near the intersection prompted another public information release to the community from the City regarding the feeding of the turkey and the safety hazards at that intersection.

Bloomington Police will post a follow-up regarding the situation from the DNR as soon as more information is available.
