Bloomington Police Investigate an Overnight Shooting (Homicide Investigation)

For Release Immediately November 3, 2019

Just after 2 a.m., Bloomington Police responded to the 8500 block of Penn Avenue S. on reports of shots fired. Officers arriving on scene found multiple subjects exiting the house and discovered 2 victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Fairview Southdale where one later died from his injuries. The other suffered non-life threatening wounds. At this time we believe both male victims are adults.

We are in the early stages of the investigation and will release additional information as we obtain it. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bloomington Police Department at 952-563-4900.

We would like to thank Edina, Richfield, Eden Prairie, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, and Metro Transit Police for your initial response and assistance at the scene.

UPDATE November 3, 2019:

The deceased victim in the overnight shooting is a 21 year old male from Minneapolis. We are still in the process of confirming his identity. The second victim who suffered non-life threatening injuries is a 21 year old male from Eagan. We are not identifying him at this time.

The investigation to this point has determined that the residents were holding a small social gathering when uninvited guest began arriving. At some point the residents asked guests to leave and in the process shots were fired.

Again we are asking for the public’s help in providing additional information. Any secondhand conversations or social media correspondences related to the party would be beneficial to the investigation. Contact the BPD @ 952-563-4900

The investigation is on-going and any updates will be provided at a later time.
