Bloomington Police Explorers Information Meeting

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 - 7–8 p.m.

The Bloomington Police Department invites you to an informational meeting on the Explorers program. This program is designed to give young adults between the ages of 14-20 an opportunity to learn about what it takes to be a law enforcement officer. Meetings are held on Wednesday evenings from Mid-September through May of each year.

Applications for Bloomington Police Explorers are currently being accepted for the 2021-2022 class through September 26.

The program includes: 

  • Weekly meetings on Wednesday nights, involving hands-on training from Police Officers in arrest tactics, traffic stops, burglary response, accident reconstruction, bomb scene response, and hostage negotiations.
  • Lecture and demonstrations from SWAT team members, K-9 handlers, Bomb Technicians, and other specialized units.
  • Compete at state and national competitions against teams from throughout the United States (past national competition locations include: Las Vegas, Gatlinburg, Purdue university, Washington D.C., Atlanta).

When: Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00pm

Where: Bloomington Police Department, Meeting will be held in the Council Chambers at 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd.
