Body Worn Cameras

BPD General Order 249

Across the nation, the use of body worn cameras has become a best practice for police departments. Law enforcement agencies are using body worn cameras in multiple ways, including but not limited to evidence collection, to further document statements and events during the course of an interaction, to enhance the public trust by preserving factual representations of officer-citizen interactions, and to identify training needs.

In preparation for the use of body worn cameras in 2019, the Bloomington Police Department has crafted General Order 249, offered within. This Order will govern the use of the body worn cameras.
