LED Lighting Installation - May 2020

In February, nearly two dozen existing light poles along the Normandale Lake Park path were retrofitted with new, energy-efficient LED light fixtures. On Wednesday, May 6, the next phase of the project is set to begin, with 10 new LED light poles being installed. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 15.

No path closures are anticipated for this work. Areas of the path adjacent to installation work will be marked by cones for the safety of park users, but pathway access will be generally uninterrupted.

The final phase of this project includes the fabrication and installation of three solar-powered light poles along a section of the path just east of Chalet Road. Due to the makeup of the berm that supports that section of the trail, traditional wiring methods are not feasible. To solve this issue, City staff worked with a local vendor that previously supplied solar lighting for the organics collection sites at Valley View Park and West Bush Lake to create these new lights which will provide dusk-to-dawn pathway illumination with no energy cost. This work will take place later in the spring.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we perform this important park improvement.
