Did you know the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breast/chestfeeding until your baby is six months old? You can then introduce complimentary solid foods while continuing to give human milk until two years or beyond, provided it is a good fit for you and your baby.

“Breastfeeding isn’t easy,” WIC Peer Breastfeeding Counselor Nataly Gomez said. “But you’re not alone. We’re here to support you and build your confidence.”

Breast/chestfeeding and giving human milk increases bonding between you and your baby, lowers your risk for postpartum depression, certain cancers, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and much more.

Multilingual peer breastfeeding counselors are available to participants of the Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program, known as the WIC program. Learn more at blm.mn/wic.
