No one wants a parking ticket, and everyone wants to keep our streets safe and vehicles moving. By complying with on-street parking rules, you contribute to Bloomington’s economic vitality, livability, safety and sense of well-being for residents, visitors and businesses.
Do your part by following basic parking rules, including no parking:
On the street for more than 24 consecutive hours.
Within five feet of a driveway
or mailbox.
Within 10 feet of a fire hydrant.
Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at
an intersection.
Within 30 feet upon the approach to any stop sign or traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway.
On a public right-of-way within 48 hours after a snow emergency has been declared.
Parking vehicles on a sidewalk is also prohibited. This includes parking on the part of the driveway that overlaps a sidewalk. A blocked sidewalk can be challenging and unsafe for pedestrians.
