Bloomington’s Opportunity Housing Ordinance is Highlighted as a Welcome Incentive for Mixed Income Housing Development in the City

Community Development Director Dr. Eric Johnson shared the City of Bloomington’s leadership role in promoting mixed-income housing development under the Opportunity Housing Ordinance.

Dr. Johnson spoke at convening of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, the Urban Land Institute of Minnesota, Family Housing Fund and other Metro Area cities to advance efforts to develop affordable housing in the region.

In response to questions about whether the Ordinance has discouraged development, Dr. Johnson responded, “Not in Bloomington. Developers have thanked us for asking them how to make mixed income housing development work in Bloomington. We have projects lined up.”
