Does your household generate a large volume of recycling?
We appreciate residents who recycle as much as they can. Residents will have the option to upgrade their recycling cart to the largest size, which is approximately 90 gallons. Residents will also have the ability to request an additional recycling cart if needed. This extra cart will be provided without an added fee. Contact Utility Billing at 952-563-8726 to change cart sizes or request an additional container.
Recycling in commercial buildings
In 2014, the Minnesota Legislature expanded recycling requirements to include commercial buildings. Owners with commercial buildings in the seven-county metro area – that also generate four cubic yards or more of trash per week – must be recycling at least three materials by January 1, 2016.
Who must collect recycling? Property owners with commercial buildings (including multi-family buildings) located in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott or Washington counties.
What must be collected? A minimum of three broad materials must be collected for recycling. Possible material types include paper, cans, glass, plastic, metal, cardboard or organics. Single-sort recycling collection with 3+ materials included meet the requirement.
