June is celebrated as LGBTQIA Pride month. The purpose is to recognize the positive impact of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender, queer, intersex, asexual (LGBTQIA) locally, nationally, and internationally.
The month also pays tribute to the progress of Human Rights advocates to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for LGBTQIA Americans.
For the fourth year, the Commission brought forward a proclamation to support the LGBTQIA community. The proclamation speaks to tolerance, justice, and dignity for all.
Unfortunately, community based Pride activities in Bloomington have been canceled due to COVID-19.
