The Bloomington Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) will be accepting applications online for its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018.
Applications can only be submitted online at www.waitlistcheck.com/MN2671 and are available 24 hours/day during this period. The time and date of application submission online has no bearing on whether an application will be selected for the waiting lists. There is no advantage to applying immediately after both lists open.
Participants of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (Section 8) pay approximately 30% of their monthly adjusted income towards the rent and utilities of an eligible rental unit in the private market. The HCV program pays the difference to the landlord each month.
Participants of the Project Based Voucher (PBV) program pay 30% of their monthly adjusted income towards the rent and utilities for a three-bedroom home owned by the HRA, and the assistance is tied to the unit. Participants with 5-6 people in their household are eligible for this program.
Both programs are open to all qualified very low-income people including seniors, families and people with disabilities. All applicants will be screened for previous violent or illegal drug activity. Applicants must have an annual gross income that is BELOW the income limits for their household size.
