Meet a firefighter

Ed Dankbar has been a firefighter for 11 years. He serves out of Station 5.

Q: What is your day job?

A: I am a Hazmat and Emergency Response Officer for Canadian Pacific Railroad, U.S. West Division.

Q: What do you do for fun when you aren’t working or volunteering?

A: In my free time I enjoy hunting, fishing, power sports, going to the cabin and spending time with my wife, dog and three cats.

Q: What made you want to become a firefighter?

A: My mom said it all started when Chief Seal visited my preschool in the late ’80s, but I would have to say I always liked the idea of helping the community and being there for my family, friends and neighbors.

Q: What do you like most about firefighting?

A: It’s a very exciting job. It is never the same thing twice.

Q: What is a little-known fact about you?

A: I have a minor in art history.
