Captain Chad Bauer’s path to the Bloomington Fire Department was unique and built on dedication and heart. After 20 years with the Bloomington Utilities as a senior utility operator, Chad made a bold move. He became a firefighter to give back to the community he calls home.
Since joining BFD in 2013, Chad has steadily climbed the ranks, from part-time firefighter to full-time captain at
Station 1. Along the way, he’s leaned on the support of his wife Leah and their three kids, Emmett, Clara and Fritz, as well as his close-knit team at the station.
What keeps him going? “It’s a fun and rewarding career, full of great people,” Chad said.
When he’s not on duty, you’ll find Chad outdoors with his family, camping, boating, fishing or cheering at local
sporting events.
