Knox Ave & 83rd St Intersection Study
Knox Avenue Intersection Study
The City has received concerns from residents in the area regarding the intersection of Knox & 83rd Street. The City will be undertaking a study of this intersection and looking at ways to make safety improvements. At the open house City Engineering Staff will be available to talk about the study and some proposed solutions. During the intersection study, City of Bloomington staff will be conducting a trial of some of the potential solutions. The most notable will be temporary use of a traffic circle at this intersection.

Traffic circle was installed on the week of August 7, 2020
City Council Approval - February 3, 2020
On February 3, 2020 the Bloomington City Council held a public hearing to discuss the 2020-102 PMP project that included the Knox and 83rd Traffic Circle. At this meeting City Council approved the traffic circle construction as part of the 2020-102 PMP Overlay project.

Intersection Trial - June thru September
City staff will be installing a temporary traffic circle at the intersection of Knox Avenue and 83rd Street. The trial is in-place to gauge the effectiveness of a traffic circle at this location. Traffic circles help assign right of way to drivers and also slow traffic going through the intersection.
